Absolutely. Whether you want a boutique resort on the beach, a treehouse in the jungle or a riverside hideaway in Bangkok, we know which hotels offer the best connecting rooms and family-friendly layouts. We’ll also advise on kid-safe extras like mosquito nets, shaded pools and on-site activities to suit your children’s ages.
Thailand Family Holiday Ideas
Ahh, Thailand. It’s got all the ingredients for an idyllic family holiday: balmy beaches, monkey-riddled jungles, fragrant food, and enough excitement to keep teenagers happy, too. But, there’s also a secret side of Thailand, untouched by mass tourism. We’ll show you her secluded shorelines, hidden family homestays and hill tribes in the north, so you’ll leave knowing the rural, real Thailand. It’ll be a genuine holiday of a lifetime.
ETG Make Family Holidays Fun & Easy
1. Short on time? We’ve got you. Life’s busy, we understand. Let our experts handle the planning so you can focus on the fun.
2. Designed by parents, for parents. We’ve travelled in Thailand with our own kids, so we know exactly what makes a family trip work (and what doesn’t).
3. Balance adventure with relaxation. Share eye-opening experiences, all together. Keep teens entertained with hands-on, cultural activities (and off their screens) with room to explore, while you unwind with a well-earned poolside G&T.
4. Seamless, safe, and stress-free. Our expert guides, smooth logistics, and handpicked family-friendly hotels mean you can fully relax and have a proper holiday.
5. Moments that matter. Feel joy from watching your kids try new things, step outside their comfort zones, and — who knows — maybe even talk to you. These are the memories that last a lifetime.
In Our Traveller’s Words
Meet Our Experts
“If you’re after a fun, off-piste adventure, I always recommend exploring Khao Sok National Park. Kayak across the glassy lake and go wildlife spotting in the evergreen jungle, before retreating back to your treehouse. Unbeatable.”

The Best Times to Go on a Family Holiday in Thailand
The school summer holidays are a cracking time to bask in the sunshine on the beaches strung along the south-east coast.
You can celebrate Christmas with a twist in Thailand, enjoying balmy weather (around 25°C) in Bangkok and time on the beach. There’s also little rainfall in the north, but if you plan on venturing into the highlands, prepare for slightly cooler temperatures at night.
April sees wonderful weather across most of Thailand, making it a great place to visit during the Easter holidays. It’s likely to feel hot – but not oppressively so – in Bangkok (around 30°C). If you like the sound of sun-infused beaches, head to the Andaman Coast on the southern peninsula of Thailand.

Summer Holidays in Thailand
Think beyond Europe for sunshine and space to explore. Thailand’s south-east coast shines in July and August. With balmy weather and quiet beaches, it’s the perfect setting for a once-in-a-lifetime family trip before university or exam season looms again.
Top Picks for Summer
Koh Samui & Khanom: Peaceful beaches (come with us to avoid the crowds), warm seas, and plenty of room to relax.
Khao Sok National Park: Rainforest lodges, kayaking, and nocturnal wildlife encounters.
Chiang Mai: (Ethical) Elephant experiences and sticky rice under the stars.
Want your teens to actually look up from their phones? Thailand might just do the trick.

Winter & Christmas Holidays in Thailand
Swap sleet for sun, spice and Thai smiles, trade turkey for Tom Yum. December is dry and glorious in Thailand, making it a brilliant festive break. Whether you want barefoot beach days or a cultural winter escape, it’s all here.
Top Picks for Christmas
Bangkok & Kanchanaburi: City buzz, floating markets and river stays.
Koh Jum or Ko Yao Noi: Bit of a digital detox and remote island bliss.
Chiang Rai & the Golden Triangle: Crisp mountain air and lantern-lit evenings.
And yes, Santa might just pop up by the pool.

A Note on Christmas
Yes, you can skip the whole thing. Trade turkey and the King’s speech for a seafood barbecue on a quiet beach, with longtail boats bobbing nearby and monkeys swinging through the palms. But if you’re not quite ready to ditch the festive spirit, don’t worry. Most hotels celebrate in style – the bigger the resort, the bigger the spectacle. Santa might even show up poolside, and carols may be sung by a Thai choir in Bangkok’s grander hotels.
End-of-term chaos? We hear you. Between work deadlines, packing, and last-minute shopping, it can feel overwhelming. But here’s the good bit: your ETG consultant will steer you towards brilliant present ideas to pick up on the road. From Chiang Mai to Ko Yao, Thailand’s markets and boutiques offer one-of-a-kind gifts that beat a last-minute Amazon dash any day.
Spring & Easter Holidays in Thailand
Thailand at Easter is pure joy! April is one of the best times to explore; it’s hot, but not overbearing, and it coincides with Songkran, the Thai New Year, a nationwide water fight and celebration that kids will love and never forget.
Top Picks for Easter
Andaman Coast (Krabi, Koh Lanta) for beach time at its best.
Ayutthaya and the central plains for ancient temples and gentle bike rides.
Chiang Mai to experience Songkran at its most joyful.
Prepare to get soaked but that’s half the fun.

Important FAQs about Family Holidays in Thailand
As early as you can. Thailand is hugely popular for families during Christmas, Easter and summer breaks, and the best flights and rooms get snapped up quickly. Aim to book 10 to 12 months ahead if you want the widest choice and best value. You don’t need to map out every moment, but locking in flights and family-friendly hotels early is essential.
Very much so. Thailand is one of the most welcoming, easy-going countries for family travel. Locals are famously warm with children, the food is fresh and varied (with plenty of non-spicy options), and there’s a brilliant mix of beaches, culture and soft adventure. Our consultants have travelled Thailand with their own kids, so we know what works.
Unlikely. Thailand may be affordable, but the best-value family holidays are booked well in advance. Flights fill fast in school holidays, and the most charming, low-key hotels tend to have limited space. That said, if you book early, we can often secure this year’s rates for next year’s travel, especially in certain resorts.
