The Anantara Hoi An Resort has a superb position overlooking the Thu Bon River in Hoi An and is without question the best standard accommodation within walking distance of the ancient town of Hoi An itself (other hotels of its grade tend to be a few miles out of town at the beach).
The standard of rooms is high, and whilst the exterior pays homage to the Hoi An's ancient heritage, the interiors are finished in a sleek modern style with spacious bedrooms and colourful mosaic bathrooms. Most rooms have an outdoor patio/porch area and some have river views.
At the heart of the resort is an inviting outdoor pool and deck area with plenty of comfortable sun loungers. The resort also has very good spa facilities with several spa rooms and a range of treatments available.
Boat trips are available from the hotel pier and you can choose between a sunrise cruise with breakfast or a sunset cruise with cocktails. Bikes are available through the hotel and there are also additional morning Tai Chi classes.
Prices are reasonable, so all in all the Anantara is one of our top recommendations in Hoi An town itself.
Deluxe - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.
