Tucked into the misty highlands of Nuwara Eliya, Ferncliff is a lovingly restored 19th-century planter’s bungalow that exudes heritage charm.
This charming and rustic planter’s bungalow was built in the mid-1800s and was a family home for many years. Set in beautifully well-kept grounds amongst gardens and trees with a cool mountain climate, Ferncliff was more recently renovated but still retains its colonial charm.
Ferncliff is ideal for travellers seeking a boutique stay rich in character and history.
A stand out is the traditional home cooking and the warm, attentive service provided by the staff. By day, take meals out on the lawn (maybe followed up by a round of croquet!), and in the evenings relax in the lounge area by the open fireplace.
We particularly recommend this part of the hill country as a base to explore the Horton’s Plain plateau and stunning World’s End. Ferncliff is a good option if you prefer smaller, boutique accommodation with charm and quality service.
The Rooms
There are just six rooms in total so Ferncliff has an intimate, peaceful feel. Rooms have a colonial style and are very comfortable, while the bathrooms provide a modern contrast.
