Hapu Tales
Couples,
Families
Set in Sri Lanka’s Hill Country near Haputale, Hapu Tales sits between the island’s two tallest waterfalls, Bambarakanda and Diyaluma.
Peacefully positioned away from busier Ella, this villa offers space, stillness and warm, personal hosting from owner Munira and a distinctive Thaal dining experience rooted in Bohra culinary tradition.
With just four rooms, it’s got an intimate feel and is surrounded by gardens and a working tea estate, with sweeping views across misted mountains and rolling plantations.
Hapu Tales suits couples seeking privacy, honeymooners wanting a secluded hill country escape, and families or friends who can take over the villa exclusively.
Wake to a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast, walk through the estate to see tea growing at your doorstep, or head to Diyaluma Falls for a climb and swim that feels properly earned. You can also hike Stage 13 0f the picturesque Pekoe Trail easily from here, and cool off in the pool on your return.
Evenings are best spent sharing the Thaal meal, a generous Bohra feast designed to be eaten together, sparking conversation and bringing everyone a little closer to the island, and to each other.
The Rooms
Four individually designed rooms: three doubles and one triple suite, sleeping up to nine guests in total.
Most have panoramic views over Haputale’s hills and tea plantations, while the Ruby Ridge room has a private jacuzzi positioned to make the most of the landscape.
Interiors are spacious and thoughtfully simple, allowing the scenery to take centre stage.
Expect cool mountain air, wide horizons and a genuine sense of retreat.
