Perched above the historic Demodara Railway Loop, Nine Skies is a restored 1920s tea planter’s bungalow offering panoramic views of Sri Lanka’s hill country.
Nine Skies gets its name from the nine skies seen through the arches of the popular Demodara Nine Arch Bridge, which can be reached on a short drive from the property, or a 4 km walk through tea estates. A great way to arrive in Demodara is on the scenic train ride from Kandy.
Your stay also includes a tour of the local Finlay Tea Factory to learn about the growing and processing of the area’s most popular export. If you’re looking to simply relax at the property, there is a lovely infinity pool amongst the gardens that look out to the Demodara Loop. While there aren’t any other facilities, a stay here is best for those looking to purely enjoy the natural surroundings and relax.
Being a small property, you’ll receive top-quality, personalised service in a peaceful atmosphere with all the usual contemporary comforts. All meals are included, as well as snacks, afternoon tea and drinks.
The Rooms
The five bedrooms and suites have a homely feel, all decorated to keep and highlight the bungalow’s former charm. They all open out onto garden terraces with lovely views out over the gardens, making for a lovely spot to chill out. There are three different categories: the Nine Skies Bedroom, Demodera Bedroom and Ella Rock Suite, with two rooms interconnecting, which is great for groups or families. The master Rock Suite is best for those seeking even more space and luxury, with a private sitting room and lovely French doors opening out to terrace with incredible views of the hills. Butlers are on hand for all guests, so you can rest assured you’ll be well looked after here.
