Peacock Hill
Couples,
Families
Set on a hillside above Wewala Lake, with views stretching across the jungle towards Sigiriya Rock, Peacock Hill is a calm place to stay while exploring the Cultural Triangle.
Far smaller and more personal than the larger resorts around Sigiriya, the house has just three suites, giving it an relaxed yet refined feel.
Particularly suits couples or a family travelling together.
Peacock Hill’s restorative setting is especially welcoming after rising early to explore of Sigiriya Fortress or nearby Pidurangala Rock before the crowds arrive.
Cool off in the pool surrounded by greenery and birds or refuel with a Sri Lankan breakfast in the Orangery. For deeper relaxation, there’s yoga and meditation.
By evening, it’s sunset G&Ts at “the Knobbly” viewpoint or a gentle pootle around the lake before dinner.
Dine on traditional Sri Lankan fare, everything from fresh tropical fruits and Egg Hoppers to Ceylon Tea, including a Peacock Hill Blend.
The Rooms
Three individually designed suites sleep up to eight guests in total, with daybeds available in two rooms for additional space.
Each suite opens onto it own terrace with views across the surrounding landscape.
Interiors combine colourful Sri Lankan vintage furniture with modern comforts, including gorgeous bathrooms with distinctive antique copper showers. Spacious dressing areas make it easy to settle in for a relaxed few days.
For the best views, we recommend the aptly named 360 Suite, which has two terraces looking out across the surrounding forest.
