Tekanda Lodge

Perched atop a tranquil hill near Ahangama, Tekanda Lodge is a handcrafted eco-retreat set within ten acres of tea and coconut plantations.
Surrounded by 10 acres of organic tea and coconut plantations with Koggala Lake and the Indian Ocean in the distance, it’s a great spot from which to experience a variety of Sri Lankan scenery from just one property.
During your stay, immerse yourself in the array of flora and fauna around the estate before cooling off in the pool. Get connected to local life with a guided fishing trip to the lake or by helping the chef cook dahl, or head down to Ahangama for the beach, surfing, and a choice of cafes. Historic Galle is only slightly further afield for a cultural day out.
The associated Tekanda Foundation provides educational and skill development courses to children and adults in its rural vicinity. The thriving Tekanda Girls Cricket Academy helps local girls access the country’s favourite sport. So, all in all, a stay at Tekanda Lodge promises a comfortable stay in a lovely location whilst supporting the surrounding community.
The Rooms
There are six rooms at Tekanda – four lodge rooms and two cabanas. These can be booked room-by-room, or you could book the entire property if you have a larger group. Each room is built from wood and natural stone with a traditional palm-thatched roof, feeling spacious and airy thanks to the high ceilings and minimalist designs. Although aircon is available, you may not need it, as there is typically a natural breeze.
