Ideal for first or last night stays
A firm favourite with ETG travellers, The Notary’s House is a charming six-bedroom boutique hotel set amidst beautifully manicured gardens and a coconut grove.
Bordering a lake, it offers a calm and serene stay, complete with wonderful facilities and scenery. Located just a 45-minute drive away from Colombo’s international airport, it is an ideal place to ease into your Sri Lankan holiday.
The hotel will appeal to couples and families alike due to the privacy the spaces afford.
Two of the rooms on the upper floor interconnect to form an excellent family suite on request, too.
It also offers a range of great complementary activities. Guided walks and trips to the local temple can be arranged, and there are bikes for exploring the surrounding villages and towns. If you fancy staying put, the hotel also provides a range of board and garden games. Dambadeniya ancient Kingdom is located a short drive away for anyone who wants to explore this region’s historical charms further.
The Rooms
Room categories are Standard and Deluxe, with the main difference being the size of the living area. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms and private balconies overlooking the garden and lake. The garden has a pavilion where meals can also be served and an infinity swimming pool overlooking the adjoining lake.
Design elements blend the traditional and the contemporary, with beautiful antique furniture and bespoke batik fabrics. The restaurant serves superb Sri Lankan cuisine and several western dishes, while the food is seasonal and the short menu changes regularly.
