Set in the heart of Anuradhapura Old City, this utterly charming property feels, as the name insinuates, like a sanctuary to retreat to amongst its lush gardens. Formerly a British governor’s residence, it has been lovingly restored to reflect its old charm.
The location is in a prime position for exploring the main sights in the area though there aren’t many great food options in the area, so you will most likely eat at the hotel. It is known for serving some of the best food in town.
Ideal for history enthusiasts, couples, and cultural travellers seeking an authentic experience in Anuradhapura. The Sanctuary’s prime location within the UNESCO World Heritage Site allows easy access to significant landmarks, while its peaceful ambiance provides a restful retreat after a day of exploration.
The Rooms
A small property, there are 22 rooms set on the 14 acres of land. They are stylish, pleasant and have verandahs that provide a lovely spot to sit out overlooking the gardens where you may even spot a peacock or monkey!
