Ulagalla Resort, Anuradhapura
Sri Lanka, Cultural Triangle

Info : Ulagalla Resort

Ulagalla was opened in 2010 and has filled a huge gap in the market for truly high-end, independent resort property in the 'Cultural Triangle'. Hidden amidst 58 acres of forest, reservoirs and paddy fields, Ulugalla's location is pretty spectacular to say the least and the team have made maximum use of their stunning surroundings.

Ulagalla Resort is built around an ancient mansion that has been restored to its original state, developed and furnished to retain its own distinctive character. The property borders two ancient reservoirs and the lower level of the mansion is the reception/ lobby area; it also includes a coffee lounge and fine dining restaurant on the upper floor.

Ulugalla has 25 chalets, all elegantly designed and beautifully furnished. Some overlook the reservoir while others the resort's flourishing paddy fields. Each chalet has large living areas and private pools.

The property also a boasts a 30-metre fresh water swimming pool and electric cars to shuttle guests within the vast grounds. The team of highly qualified chefs create gourmet cuisine to suit the individual needs of every guest.

Ulugalla has been fairly creative with the activities they offer: as well as bar billiards, guests can do horse riding, kayaking and even archery.

The resort is ideally located for exploring the ancient sites of the region. Ulagalla is located in the hamlet of Tirappane, 40 km north of Dambulla on the Dambulla - Anuradhapura road. Anuradhapura is just 20 km from the resort and it is extremely convenient to access the cultural triangle sites and other historic sites from the resort.

Ultimate - There are very few hotels we would describe as 'ultimate'. Hotels in this category must have absolutely everything anyone could want and really be aiming for the stars. These hotels generally go well above and beyond and they would always be at the very top end of the market. These are for clients looking for that extra special place.

Guest Comments for Ulagalla Resort

You were right it only took 4 hrs in total up to Ulugalla and we stopped on the way at Dumballa to break up the journey. it was definitely a good idea to keep with our choice of Ulugalla, it was amazing and a complete haven in amongst the jungle. Would strongly recommend it.

Accommodation bigger than the footprint of my house including private screened garden with Jacuzzi - ideal for skinny dipping!

The rooms, ambience, food and friendliness of staff were superb! Because of the tours and road travel we were unable to make full use of Ulagalla for relaxing which was a little disappointing.

Ullagalla - 10/10 - great setting, fantastic place and convenient for the historical sights.

Truly exceptional and made us feel incredibly special. Totally unique in their offering.

Ulagalla was really nice, top notch quality- I think they need to get the service right as some of their English wasn't so good and so hard to communicate. But I am sure it will become a big draw.
