Kala Ghoda Art Walk, Mumbai India, Maharashtra
Take a walk through the Art Precinct of Mumbai’s British Heritage District, to introduce you to the vibrant world of contemporary Indian painting and sculpture. The Kala Ghoda district has developed into a prominent cultural centre in Mumbai. Numerous art galleries, museums and cultural spaces, including pavement galleries, combine with restaurants, popular shops and designer boutiques to create an area that is stimulating and diverse. During the walk, as you are introduced to the history of the beautiful heritage buildings and visit galleries showcasing different art schools, you’ll have a chance to gain a firsthand understanding of modern Indian art and its evolution from the early 1900s to the present day. You might even be tempted to purchase an artwork yourself.
The one-on-one guide arranged with Experience Travel Group enabled me to get so much more from my trip to India. As well as the almost compulsory visits to the Taj Mahal and Red Fort, I was shown a variety of busy towns and mall villages, traditional crafts and skills, religious buildings and practices, architecture and wildlife, finishing with a very relaxing stay in Tikli Bottom.
