A Journey through Madhya Pradesh
Prepare to be wowed by incredible history, architecture, and wildlife, before finishing the holiday on the sacred Narmada river at Maheshwar.
Salaam Baalak Trust is an NGO helping to rehabilitate and give a better life to India’s many street children. On this walk you’ll have the rare privilege of meeting some of these children and hearing their stories. You will be guided by one of the ex-street kids, teenagers and now guides from the New Delhi Railway Station area, who will show you the shelters where some of the children stay, and tell you stories of how some of them came to live on the streets and what their daily lives, mostly milling around on the railway platform, are like. The guides also show you an area of Delhi you’d otherwise be unlikely to see and tell you about local life from a more street level perspective than tourists generally get to see. This is an eye-opening and fun afternoon, and one that shows the positive work being done to turn these children’s lives around. The fantastically engaging and self-effacing guides are living proof of the positive work being done by the trust and others to directly change lives.
The money from your tour will go directly towards the trust and employing the guides, most of whom use it to fund their continuing education through high school and beyond.
You can include this experience as part of an Experience Travel Group holiday designed exclusively with you.
