The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, nicknamed the "Toy Train", is a UNESCO World Heritage narrow gauge railway from New Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling. It was built between 1879 and 1881 and is recognised as a major feat of engineering in quite stunningly beautiful surroundings. You will board the train in Darjeeling and ride to the small hillside town of Ghoom. In the afternoon you can visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, the Zoological Park and the Tibetan Refugee Centre.
