North India - Tented Camps, Forts & Palaces
Explore the more remote areas of Rajasthan, delving into the culture, history and beauty of the desert state, staying in unique accommodation.
Set in the heart of Bikaner in a quiet residential area, Narendra is filled with history, being the former home of the last reigning Maharaja of Bikaner. Heavily influenced by the art deco movement that took place in Mumbai, you’ll find traditional Rajasthani details amongst the quirky and fascinating art pieces, modern furnishings and bold colours.
Interiors are opulent, modern and colourful, with retro, kitsch touches and are brimming with fascinating art pieces. Those with an affinity for art and design will enjoy the various spaces within the grand terracotta walls and archways. You’ll find the city’s best rooftop terrace, offering fantastic views over the city, along with an infinity pool and gym. The P&C dining room reflects a timeless, elegant eram serving local and western dishes. For sweet treats, their Mad Hatter bakery is home to delicious pastries, cakes and desserts.
The 82 rooms are spread amongst four categories, all with vivid colour palettes where traditional Indian aspects are highlighted and blend with an eclectic, modern touch. You’ll find they are mostly spacious, bedding is plush, and vintage art pieces make the space all the more impressive.
It should be noted that there are several pet dogs and cats on the property, and it may not be for those looking for a small, low key, traditional accommodation. For a truly unique, eclectic and colourful stay, Narendra Bhawan is a wonderful option, in the heart of the Shekhawati region.
Superior - This is what we would describe as our standard category. These will be decent 3/4* hotels providing a really good level of service. We would generally expect them to be providing a little something extra, in terms of character, guest experience or facilities too.
