The folks at Malabar escapes are well known for creating unique top-notch accommodation experiences throughout India, and Serenity is no exception. This lovely 1920’s style bungalow is the perfect getaway for a small group or a large family – you can rent the whole place if you like. There’s a resident chef, a resident elephant, simple, comfortable accommodation and excellent facilities and activities.
Kanam is in the southern part of Kerala, around 40 kilometres inland from Alleppey. Here, the surroundings are tropical and the land is dotted with spice, rubber, and banana plantations. You can discover the Kerala backwaters from Serenity without sharing your precious space with hordes of tourists. Otherwise, hire a bullock cart, explore temples and ancient churches, or cycle through the surrounding villages. At the villa, you can practice yoga, play badminton, swim in the pool, watch a cooking demonstration, or book an indulgent spa treatment. But the biggest thrill on-site is a day with the resident elephant.
There are only five bedrooms, three with double beds and two with twin beds. The accommodation is simple but comfortable, and the resident chef cooks and serves meals according to your wishes.
Serenity is a great base for exploring Kerala’s backwaters and inland treasures. It’s relaxing, intimate, and very comfortable here — a good choice for small groups, individuals who love to share experiences with others and families.
Comfort - This is our lead in category. There will generally be a no frills approach and while some will be characterful, some will do exactly what it says on the tin - provide a clean, comfortable and good value place to spend the night. These places are normally 3* hotels.
