Tranquil Resort, Wayanad

In remote northern Kerala, Tranquil Resort is nestled on a sprawling coffee and vanilla plantation in Wayanad. The intimate resort is run much like an upmarket homestay, with lovely rooms and particularly charming tree houses that are perfect for families. The plantation surroundings are just beautiful and you can expect a very friendly social experience.

Wayanad is the perfect destination for wandering through lush landscapes, taking in the fresh air at higher altitudes, and beating the heat and crowds in Indian cities. The Edakkal Caves are close to Tranquil Resort, and Pookote Lake is an hour away. Muthanda Wildlife Sanctuary is a highlight for elephant and leopard spotting, and the area is home to plenty of stunning peaks, waterfalls, and dams. At the resort itself, there are thirteen well-signed nature walks, and you can spot birds, practice yoga in the Machaan area, swim in the pool, lie in a hammock, or enjoy an Ayurvedic treatment. Meals are relaxed and friendly occasions, served in a shared dining area.

There are eight rooms and suites inspired by Colonial style planter’s bungalows, and two tree houses towering ten metres off the ground. All are spacious, airy, and well equipped. The tree houses are ideal for families or honeymooners, with their large verandas, incredible views, and beautiful traditional furnishings.

Expect modern comfort but not pure luxury at Tranquil Resort. This is a friendly, social, and relaxed resort hosted by an Indian family. There will be kids and dogs running around.
