Relaxed Sri Lanka Family Holiday
Sri Lanka's natural beauty and time away from the tourist trail. Unique accommodation and limited overland journeys.
This renovated Dutch colonial cottage rests on a hill, sloping down to Sri Lanka's southern coastline. Characterful, homely and intimate, 3 Sisters is a great option for those wanting a quiet beach retreat whilst absorbing Sri Lanka's rich cultural history.
The property is named after the owner's three daughters and is, appropriately, a wonderful place to stay with the family. There are three double bedrooms, including a very large loft conversion that can sleep up to five people. Rooms are dotted with unique Sri Lankan antiques from across the country and a traditional Dutch veranda is a wonderful place for meals. The 3 Sisters staff are to hand, able to prepare delicious spreads for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
To amp up the escapist fantasy element, there is a picturesque infinity pool overlooking the ocean beyond. The adjacent secluded beach can be accessed by a private stone staircase carving down from the garden's coconut grove. When in season, you can take a dip in the sea or have a go at surfing the waves breaking on the sandbars just beyond the shore.
To preserve its beauty, the infinity pool lacks any fencing so 3 Sisters may best suit families with older children. However, special arrangements can be made on request to ensure safety for younger children.
Deluxe - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.
