Sri Lanka, Colombo, Negombo & Around
Info : Galle Face
The Galle Face Hotel Colombo enjoys the finest position in Colombo, facing the sea and the expanse of seaside promenade known as the Galle Face Green. Like an aging aristocrat, The Galle Face has an air of faded grandeur: the cocktails are still served on the beautiful veranda as the sun sets, by courteous old world waiters.
The suites are surely some of the largest in the world, with fine antique furniture, but the carpets are somewhat faded and the beds have fallen below the modern 5 star standard. Nonetheless this is an an experience unmatched anywhere in the world. The sea facing standard rooms are very pleasant, though the service and finish is somewhat idiosyncratic.
Come and stay at the Galle Face Hotel Colombo for a glorious history lesson, for a glimpse of colonial days gone by: but go to its sister hotel, Galle Face, The Regency if you want the best in modern comfort and convenience.
Superior - This is what we would describe as our standard category. These will be decent 3/4* hotels providing a really good level of service. We would generally expect them to be providing a little something extra, in terms of character, guest experience or facilities too.
