Jim's Farm Villas, Dambulla
Sri Lanka, Cultural Triangle

Info : Jim's Farm Villas

Set within a 50 acre organic farm in a quiet, rural part of Sri Lanka, Jim’s Farm Villas is a great base from which to explore the countries unique cultural sights and wildlife parks.

The farm has two beautiful villas, the first villa is called Hilltop and the second is called Spice Garden. Villas can be rented on a room by room basis or in their entirety.  Taking a whole villa is a great option for a family. The villas are surrounded by luscious tropical gardens filled with exotic fruit, spices and flowers.

The Spice Garden Villa is found at the heart of the farm with a total of 5 bedrooms, including two large adjoining family rooms. Each of the spacious en-suite rooms are elegantly decorated with beautiful wooden antiques and traditional locally made furnishings. The resort dining area is based at The Spice Garden Villa and breakfast and dinner are served here for all guests. As the name suggests this villa is set opposite the aromatic spice area of the farm, which provides a picturesque backdrop.

The Hilltop villa is found a few hundred meters above the Spice Garden with fantastic panoramic views over the surrounding countryside. The 6 bedrooms are decorated in a more modern style than the Spice Garden Villa. This villa is equipped with its own kitchen, dining area and television lounge. The hotel pool is found just outside the Hilltop Villa, with fantastic views overlooking the surrounding mountains, farmland and forests- the perfect place to unwind. A small pool-side cabana is available for BBQ dining- though most meals will be taken in the Spice Garden Villa.

Each villa has a wraparound balcony and communal areas for guests to relax and enjoy the stunning scenery.

A fine dining evening meal is eaten communally at a large table, encouraging a friendly and homely atmosphere between the guests. The food is first rate, using freshly grown produce straight from the farm and gardens. The set menus include a mixture of tasty Sri Lankan and Western dishes, though the staff will go out of their way to cater for any specific requirements.

The location of Jims Farm is quite unique as a sightseeing base as it is located within about 1 hour of both the cultural triangle and Kandy. This makes it ideal for people who don’t want to move hotels too much. You can base yourselves at Jims Farm for a number of days and take tours to visit Sigiriya rock fortress, Dambulla cave temple, the sites of Kandy and elephants in one of the wildlife parks. The farm itself with its aromatic spice garden and farm animals has plenty to keep everyone entertained and is also  a great place to relax.

Deluxe - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.
