Tri, Koggala Lake,
Sri Lanka, The South Coast
Info : Tri, Koggala Lake
Spread across six verdant acres on the banks of Lake Koggala, between lush paddy fields and the south coast, Tri is well off the beaten track.
It’s composed of eight villas; one family sized, three with private plunge pools, and all with planted ec-roofs that blend into the landscape and 3 water tower rooms which have very small rooms with good views. Spacious terraces and sunrise or sunset views over the lake through floor-to-ceiling windows are also another stunning feature of the accomodation.
Tri is of a very modern design, with clear cut lines, minimalistic furnishings and angles meant to mimic the fibonachi sequence, this is a hotel for those wanting to be at the cutting edge of style.
The infinity swimming pool overlooks Lake Koggala and is surrounded by a relaxing subathing area. The buzz of resident cicadas and wild birds create an incredibly relaxing mood. With an onsite spa and glass-walled library, there are plenty of other ways to unwind at the resort. We thoroughly recommend the wellness activities provided by visiting health practisioners, the canopy yoga is as inspiring as much as it is calming.
The resort's restaurant serves interesting twists on classic dishes sourcing many ingredients from the hotel's organic garden. The bar also offers a range of cocktails and snacks until late evening. Tri’s is also well placed. It's close to historic Galle where lots of colonial sights are placed and also close to the fabulous beaches of Sri Lanka's south coast.
It's a wonderful place to stay if you are looking for a luxurious, off the beaten track experience in the south of Sri Lanka. Whilst it might not be suitable for those wanting a traditional place to stay close to the energy of a busier town with restaurants and other amenities, this is certainly an ideal escape for those searching for total relaxation.
Deluxe - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.
We just wanted to say a big 'thankyou' for all your hard work with our holiday. We had a fabulous time and the accommodation and organisation was spot on. We loved the Mud House and thought it was our favourite place. We are not so sure now, as the rest was great and the villa was complete luxury.
