For families with children, or those wishing to relax at the end of a tour of Sri Lanka, Passikudah beach is ideal: gentle waves, shallow waters, and plenty of water sports. Uga Bay Resort prides itself on its warm and welcoming feel and great customer service. Kids and adults will love the infinity pool, which is expansive and quite frankly, spectacular.
Passikudah is a wide sheltered sandy bay, and due to its remote location, there are only limited options for exploring locally such as day trips to Batticaloa Lagoon or fishing trips out to sea. There are water-sports on the sheltered bay too. On-site at the hotel, check out the idyllic underground spa and get yourself a spa treatment or massage.
There are four room types: the beach studios on the ground floor, ocean studios one floor higher, bay suites, and beach villas. Ocean views are guaranteed, and the hotel has all the usual amenities at its disposal. Honeymooners will love the beach villa with its own private plunge pool and private beach access. Not to mention the butler.
This hotel is ideal for gentle beach holidays with the kids or honeymooning. Travellers looking for local dining options or a hive of activity might choose to stay elsewhere.
Deluxe - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.
