Overlooking the beautiful Kelani River lies the Borderlands River Base Camp - a fantastically friendly and picturesque spot right in the centre of Sri Lanka’s adrenalin capital, Kithugala.
The camp consists of nine furnished tents, perched on stilted platforms directly over the Kelani River. Toilets and showers are communal here and are set a little back from the water’s edge, leaving you to enjoy the stunning views over the river from your private terrace. The tents are covered by thatched roofs, ensuring you stay dry whatever the weather.
As the sun dips low and guests return from a day’s hiking, rafting, canyoning and all other sorts of activities, the Long House thrives; providing a great space for meeting other guests and exchanging stories to the soothing sound of the river rushing below. The Long House provides ample lounging space, as well as the long table at which your Sri Lankan Curry will be served. The food here is fantastic and not to be missed.
What more can you ask for other than a cold beer, delicious meal and great company after a day of exploring on the Kelani River or surrounding mountains?!
