The first thing you’ll notice when you arrive at Windermere Estate is the view – a wondrous 360-degree span of majestic mountains stretching all the way to the Western Ghats.
This is an cosy and comfortable homestay experience on a cardamom plantation in Munnar with lovely rooms and cottages nestled in the mountainous countryside.
Munnar is known for its fresh mountain air at high altitudes, its vivid undulating hills covered with evergreen, and its world-class tea plantations.
The estate itself is close to several fine tea plantations and the sprawling Eravikulam National Park, where you can trek through the parklands, see beautiful and rare butterfly species, and spot a Nilgiri Tahr (Indian mountain goat) in its natural habitat, if you’re lucky.
Windermere Estate is the real deal homestay experience and the owners live on-site.
The Rooms
The rooms are set into homely bungalows with red cedar accents and tasteful minimalistic furnishings. Garden rooms have verandas, and the cottages and villas are bright and spacious with breathtaking mountain views.
Bear in mind that alcohol can’t be served in public places here, but if that’s not a deal breaker considering Windermere Estate is a wonderful experience, which combines beautiful landscapes, a high level of comfort, and the warmth of an authentic homestay.
