Banteay Srei, Siem Reap
Cambodia, Siem Reap, North & East

Info : Banteay Srei

One of the less-visited, outlying temples and possibly one of Angkor’s most beautiful and atmospheric. Banteay Srei is famed for its somewhat diminutive dimensions and its stunningly carved detail dating back to the 10th century.

Known as the 'Temple of the Women' (Banteay Srei translates as Citadel of the Woman) it lies about 25km further out from the central Siem Reap temples. Dedicated to the Hindu god, Shiva, the temple is constructed from intricately carved red sandstone and is extraordinarily well-preserved.

Customer Feedback
Of course Angkor Wat and temples are out of this world and Nokia our young guide was very informative and considerate enough to find us shade occasionally and to rest. He was the youngest in a rice farming family, longing to find himself a lady to settle down.
