Cambodia Highlights & Beyond
See three different sides of the remarkable country of Cambodia before relaxing at a hidden island retreat in Thailand.
The pavilion is a thirty-six room boutique hotel in the historical centre of Phnom Penh. Located just a hundred metres from the Royal Palace and the Mekong River, the property is scattered throughout a lavish tropical garden adorned with Coconut, Frangipani and Jasmine trees. Platform day-beds are strategically positioned in shady areas and around the pool to provide a real oasis in the heart of the city.
The original building dated back to the 1920s and was allegedly built by Queen Kossamak, the mother of King Sihanouk. The overall architectural style is traditional Khmer fused with French Colonial elements. Rooms are painted in neutral and pastel colours, with colonial-era floor tiles and furnishings.
The rooms are divided into various categories, and the prices vary depending on their size, location and facilities. Many of the rooms have small private verandas or balconies, and there is a two-bedroom suite which is good for families or small groups. There is also one Jacuzzi Bungalow and a total of four Private Pool Rooms with private plunge pools. All the rooms are excellent value for money. Food and drinks are served in a simple setting around the pool and garden.
The Pavilion is an excellent value hotel in a very convenient location. Don't expect international luxury but do expect a warm welcome, friendly environment and comfortable accommodation within walking distance of many of the city's attractions. Please note that the hotel is adults only and does not accept reservations from families.
Superior - This is what we would describe as our standard category. These will be decent 3/4* hotels providing a really good level of service. We would generally expect them to be providing a little something extra, in terms of character, guest experience or facilities too.
