Old-world charm meets comfort at this grand royal palace turned heritage hotel, which is an attraction in itself in the town of Bharatpur.
It’s not far from the Keoladeo Ghana National park, one of the best locations for birding in India.
In all, the palace is our favourite property in Bharatpur, and a great base to explore the nearby national park. Do note that it is getting a little more popular with group tours, so dining is often buffet style.
Spend your time cooling off in the pool, relaxing in the spa with wellness treatments or taking a yoga class. In the evenings, enjoy a drink at the Shikar bar and your meals in the beautiful restaurant with its grand archways and intricately painted walls.
The Rooms
The palace consists of 75 rooms, either Classic Rooms or Royal Suites. They keep with the heritage theme with colourful textiles, carpets and furnishings. The Royal Suites are especially spacious, complete with a lounge area, white archways and balconies looking out to the gardens.
