Footsteps of The Raj
Explore North and East India visiting the capitals of the British Raj, exploring the countryside and diverse and vibrant cities.
Start the morning with a drive past the Saadat Ali and Begum tombs and the Chattar Manzil, or 'Umbrella Palace' to reach the beautiful Bara Imambara monument. Construction began on this grand building at the start of a devastating famine, in order to provide employment. It is said that the workers would construct the building during the day, while in the evening, the noblemen would take it down again, thus creating work for the people for 10 years. It is one of the last buildings to have been built without any European influence and its star is a magnificent arched hall, which is built without beams or obvious supports. You will also see Rumi Darwaza gate and the Asfi Mosque. Afterwards you'll visit the beautiful domed Hussainabad Imambara.
You'll be guided throughout by a knowledgeable and fun local guide. The day is flexible and can be altered according to your interests.
You can include this experience as part of an Experience Travel Group holiday designed exclusively for you.
