Footsteps of The Raj
Explore North and East India visiting the capitals of the British Raj, exploring the countryside and diverse and vibrant cities.
Today you will walk through Shimla's Architectural Heritage Zone, taking in various architectural sites from the British era. Begin at the Christ Church, located on the western shoulder of Jakhu Hill - the highest hill in Shimla. You will see a number of old colonial buildings, most of which are still in use to this day and all of which have striking design features that are unique and add to Shimla's charm. Your guide will introduce each building to you, giving an account of their individual history, designers and notable occupants. You will also have chance to visit the Monkey Temple, Gaitey Theatre and Mall Area.
We can arrange for this walk to be guided by the historian regarded as the leading authority on the colonial era and its influence on Shimla.
You can include this experience as part of an Experience Travel Group holiday designed exclusively for you.
