In the Marwar and Mewar regions of Rajasthan, Lakshman Sagar is well situated in the centre of a popular tourist circuit, en-route to bustling Jodhpur or Udaipur. This beautiful old hunting lodge features stunning cottages built from mud and stone, and the vibe here is authentic, natural, and laid-back.
Though it’s remote, there is plenty to do at Lakshman Sagar: you can indulge in local liquor tasting, fly kites, herd goats, trek through the surrounding countryside, practice yoga, or set out on a horse trail. Everything is based on “slow living”, enjoying the moment, and mindless relaxation.
Twelve cottages are nestled into the natural contours of the hills, six on either side of the lake. Each cottage has its private plunge pool and is decorated in a unique style, telling a fascinating story from the region with beautiful natural materials. A gorgeous pool has been built into a large rock, making for a perfect venue to watch the sunset. The cuisine here is tailor-made, prepared slowly and utterly delicious.
If your idea of a hotel is non stop action and full of entertainment, the “slow life” concept that defines this lodge may not be for you. But if relaxation, good food, and fresh air sound like the ideal place for a few days then idle your way over to Lakshman Sagar.
