Climb Mount Popa, Popa Mountain
Myanmar, Bagan

Info : Climb Mount Popa

A deeply significant Burmese pilgrimage site, Mount Popa’s volcanic peak is extinct but retains its spiritual power to this day. It’s less than an hour away from Bagan. There are over 700 steps leading to the top, look out for the cheeky monkeys that greet you along the way. The views from the peak are spectacular. If you’re feeling adventurous, there’s an optional further climb to Popa Taung Kalat shrine on the summit of a volcanic plug, quite close by. Wherever you end up, enjoy the cool mountain breezes and the beautiful green jungle with its multiple bird and butterfly inhabitants.

Customer Feedback
My favourite [guide] was Aung in Mandalay. We only had him for one day, but he was determined to show us as much of Mandalay as possible in the time allotted, was obviously very proud of his city and country and was a pleasure to be with. He even took us to meet his uncle who was the Abbott of one of the many monasteries.
