While hotels in Myanmar lack the sheer number and diversity of the hotel offering in neighbouring Thailand, it does have some superlative outliers that couldn’t be anywhere else, with a very distinct sense of place. There are plenty of well-located and high standard hotels in all the central regions too.
MORE THAN APLACE TO SLEEP
Enjoy the idea of a leisurely river expedition up the great Irrawaddy River, aboard a ship redolent of bygone days? Or perhaps staying on an island in the Mergui Archipelago, home to sea gipsies, birdlife, and little else besides? Maybe you’ve always wanted to stay in a grand old hotel in Yangon or Mandalay?
Myanmar might be relatively fresh on the tourism scene in Southeast Asia. However, it still has some wonderful hotels and places to stay, from luxury river steamers to charming colonial conversions and excellent independent boutique hotels. You can even stay overnight in a monastery just as travellers did in the past. Whatever you will choose, we believe that carefully selected accommodation is essential to creating the perfect luxury holiday in Myanmar.

Boutique & Character
Myanmar is a country with a rich and diverse cultural heritage, and this is reflected in many characterful hotels scattered throughout the country. There are charming boutique hotels and converted colonial houses as well as quirky lodges and excellent city hotels.
Luxury & Deluxe
Myanmar has several hotels which stand comparison with any in the world. That’s what you look for in a hotel of this level, the sense that though the standards are exceptionally high, there is an equally strong sense of place and character.
Beach Hotels & spas
Myanmar has an extensive, but little known coastline, home to many gorgeous beaches, several beautiful resorts and boutique hotels and incredible views out to the Bay of Bengal. It’s not just Ngapali Beach now; there are a handful of fantastic alternatives to the south too.
River Expeditions
The famous ‘Road to Mandalay’ was a poem (and song) about not a road, but a river journey and there is romance galore to be found on a river expedition in Myanmar. Journey overnight up the mighty Irrawaddy or the lesser-visited Chindwin.
Best of the Rest
Myanmar is relatively undeveloped, and if you want to really explore, you won’t find many superlative hotels away from the main tourist areas. So we’ve selected clean and comfortable hotels with a decent level of service for when you need a good bed for the night.
HOTELS WITH EXPERIENCE TRAVEL GROUP
At Experience Travel Group (ETG), we understand that the right hotel can make your holiday. That’s why every hotel in our collection has been personally vetted by a member of our team - we have our own rating system and pretty exacting standards, too (for every one hotel you see, there may well be five that haven’t made the cut!). Our main touchstone is that each hotel we work with genuinely enhances your experience of the destination. What might work for one traveller might not suit another, so your dedicated travel consultant will work with you to find properties that tick all your boxes.
