Myanmar, Yangon and Around
Info : East Hotel
The East Hotel, Yangon is a small characterful hotel right in the heart of the downtown district and is one of the city’s first boutique style hotels at the “value” level. Situated between the 2 main roads of Pagoda and Bogyoke it is in an ideal location for exploration of the city. The hotel is just across the road from the more famous Traders hotel which is a good place to enjoy a drink in the evening.
The East Hotel, Yangon's set-up is pretty standard with a small cafe and reception on the ground floor then a central lift and 9 floors of rooms. There are about 7 rooms on each floor and as a rule being nearer the top guarantee’s better views and the quietest rooms. The rooms feature a simple design style with comfortable beds and in some cases the bathroom is open plan. Most of the rooms are of a fairly compact size but with flat screen TV, free Wi-Fi, air con and unlimited bottled water they are comfortable.
The East Hotel is ideal for anyone looking for functional comfort in a great location without the expense and perks of somewhere like Traders.
Our guides in Yangon, Bagan, and Kalaw / Lake Inle were wonderful. They struck the right balance of explaining the history and importance of the sights we were seeing without over-doing it, they knew where to get the best view/experience at what time and could rearrange experiences so we got the most out of them.
