Golden Island Cottages, Lake Inle

Golden Island Cottages are a pair of bungalow resorts perched over the waters of the magnificent Inle Lake, one of Burma’s most beautiful destinations.

Both resorts have spacious, comfortable, wooden cabanas offering a peaceful haven in the Shan Mountains. With en-suite bathrooms, hot water and private balconies, the rooms ensure you will have a pleasant stay in Inle and have your basic needs more than taken care of.

Conveniently placed for exploring the area, the Golden Island Cottages are welcoming and spacious, with great views of the surrounding lake. Particularly breathtaking at sunrise and sunset, the resorts offer hearty cuisine. Golden Island Cottages 1 is placed ideally for an excursion to one of the local ‘five-day market’ sites. Golden Island Cottages 2 occupies a more tranquil position near the centre of the lake.

Neither resorts have air-conditioning, but nights are generally cool, and you will need a blanket more than a cooler. Other facilities include tea and coffee in the rooms, wifi internet in the receptions and amiable staff. Food is a variety of traditional Burmese dishes and Chinese-influenced cuisine, with an excellent range of exotic fruit juices on offer. The Shan State is one of the country’s most fertile, and the fruits and vegetables make for healthy and varied culinary treats. Inle Lake also has a unique agricultural system of floating farms, themselves an attraction of the region.
