Shwe Taung Tarn,
Info : Shwe Taung Tarn
Shwe Taung Tarn is centrally located in Mandalay city and a good base for your visit. The hotel has a charming feel and features a pool in the centre of the two hotel buildings
The rooms have a simple, clean design and are an ample size to spread out. The bathrooms are modern but quite small. One building is slightly more traditional in style with each of its deluxe rooms having a private balcony overlooking the pool; rooms in the other building do not have balconies. At present you can't request or pay extra for a balcony, with tourism fairly new these sorts of quirks are quite common in Burma.
Of all the hotels in this category Shwe Taung Tarn is currently the best. It covers a good location, traditional design and the added great bonus of a pool. The service is not quite there yet, but with time this will be certainly sort itself out.

Comfort - This is our lead in category. There will generally be a no frills approach and while some will be characterful, some will do exactly what it says on the tin - provide a clean, comfortable and good value place to spend the night. These places are normally 3* hotels.
We enjoyed a 3 week trip exploring both the well known places as well as the less developed areas. We also balanced the trip with a variety of walks and activities as well as time for several half day breaks to relax. The Myanmar people are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The colours of the country are outstanding, wonderful dusty landscapes with rice fields and palm trees as well as so many amazing pagodas rich in colour and symbolism. Our best parts were the less well known places but Lake Inle and Bagan are must do places and are still not overrun by tourists. Experience Travel Group tailored a trip for our needs and knew how to do so and suggest appropriate hotels and means of travel.
