Info : La Villa
This simple property is owned by a French couple, who has taken a beautiful villa style house and converted it to a homestay. It’s French colonial in style and has simple, elegant and uncluttered bedrooms and communal areas.
It’s conveniently located close to the main sights of Mysore, but nicely tucked away from the mains streets so feels quieter.
There is a small art gallery for local artists, a pleasant terrace and nice gardens. It’s a fantastic hotel for travellers who enjoy feeling a home away from home, who don’t need lots of modern amenities and like to share stories with fellow guests.
Homestay - What we mean by 'Homestay' is generally a large family owned house, still occupied by at least some members of the family. Interaction with guests is encouraged and is in fact unlikely to be avoided! These places always have bags of character are usually highly charming and can provide a fascinating shortcut towards understanding local life a little better. Facilities can range from the luxurious, to pretty basic and meals are generally taken as a group and served in the local style rather than from a menu. The service is almost always fairly quirky and idiosyncratic. Great fun.

The one-on-one guide arranged with Experience Travel Group enabled me to get so much more from my trip to India. As well as the almost compulsory visits to the Taj Mahal and Red Fort, I was shown a variety of busy towns and mall villages, traditional crafts and skills, religious buildings and practices, architecture and wildlife, finishing with a very relaxing stay in Tikli Bottom.
