In a secluded beachfront setting, just an hour south of Colombo sits the Anantara Kalutara, offering luxurious accommodation surrounded by tropical gardens. It has something to please everyone; delicious food, plenty of activities, attentive staff and spacious, modern rooms.
Despite its large size, the property still manages to feel intimate, with many areas to relax in the gardens, restaurants, and rooms. The low-rise buildings hero simplistic elegance and are surrounded by palm trees, well-kept grounds, two swimming pools, a gym and yoga, and meditation pavilion.
The warm Sri Lankan hospitality is a real highlight and romantic touches such as private dining, pool villas, and couples spa treatments make the property ideal for couples. However, it is still child-friendly, offering a kids club and many activities. In regards to dining, there are three restaurants and a bar that serve up high quality Asian, Italian and various cuisines from around the world.
The property comprises 141 spacious, luxury rooms, suites and pool villas, all of which encompass traditional Sri Lankan design combined with modern style. The sounds of the flowing river or gentle waves can be heard from your room, along with views of coconut palms and the gardens from your balcony or terrace. The private suites and villas include a private garden and separate living areas, while some have personal plunge pools and sundecks.
Enjoy great dining options and luxurious facilities despite the large scale. However, if you prefer smaller, boutique accommodation, then this property may not be for you.
Luxury - Luxury hotels would have a superb level of service, very comfortable and usually spacious bedrooms, excellent food, great design and character. For us, when we visited, these places all had the 'wow factor'. A luxury hotel should satisfy the criteria of the most discerning clients.
