Expo Pavilion, Margosa,
Sri Lanka, Jaffna Peninsula
Info : Expo Pavilion, Margosa
The Expo Pavilion, Margosa, an out-of-town boutique hotel, is a charming conversion of a traditional Jaffna House, a 100 year old family home, complete with central courtyard.
Located conveniently for Jaffna Airport at Palaly, it is excellent for clients wishing to see the sites of the peninsular whilst remaining in a quiet and peaceful location. Although there are sites within Jaffna town itself, the majority of sites are scattered around the peninsular, so there is no disadvantage to being out of town, barring the lack of local colour and restaurants.
The food is excellent and well-priced here though, and eating out in Jaffna town is generally best at lunchtime. The central courtyard makes for a great place to eat in a very intimate setting.
The 6 rooms are all large and well furnished with antique furniture, comfortable beds, AC and excellent bathrooms. The general standards are high, and the Margosa Pavilion is a comfortable and peaceful place to be based.
Superior - This is what we would describe as our standard category. These will be decent 3/4* hotels providing a really good level of service. We would generally expect them to be providing a little something extra, in terms of character, guest experience or facilities too.
- Wheelchair Acccessible
- Wireless Internet
This was an excellently organised, tailor-made trip. We stayed in friendly hotels in a number of different locations, including a mud house in the jungle, beside a lake and in the hills among the tea plantations. We had a wonderful guide/driver and visited some amazing temples, spectacular world heritage sites, lovely villages and ate delicious, freshly harvested and cooked local food. It was a fabulous holiday!
