Maluu Maluu is a beach resort on the idyllic shores of Pasikudah Bay. The hotel provides a simple yet charming environment in which to relax and enjoy the tropical vibes of the unspoiled beach.
The surrounding area has much to offer, and the hotel provides some activities for guests who want to do a little more than lounge on the beach. Take to the seas for an ocean fishing trip, followed by a cooking class to make the most of your catch. Hitch a lift on a tuk-tuk to a local Hindu ceremony or a boat ride through mangrove swamps with fishermen from the village. Or, of course, there’s always cocktails by the pool with a good book and a great view.
The resort is built in the style of a ‘wadiya’ or Sri Lankan fishing village. The two-story thatched roof chalets have timber exteriors and clean and modern décor: nothing too audacious, just beach villas with everything you need. The chalets are centred around an infinity pool overlooking the pristine beach. The larger Panoramic Suites and Deluxe Attic Rooms can accommodate four people, so they are perfect for families. Although all the villas have a beach or pool view, we’d recommend an ocean view, if possible, just to enjoy a morning coffee with the sun rising over the waves from your private deck.
Maluu Maluu is a laidback resort on a lovely stretch of beach, and suitable for anyone who wants a relaxing stay while visiting Sri Lanka’s east coast.
Superior - This is what we would describe as our standard category. These will be decent 3/4* hotels providing a really good level of service. We would generally expect them to be providing a little something extra, in terms of character, guest experience or facilities too.
