Sri Lanka, Kandy and Around
Info : Taylor's Hill
This former tea planter’s mansion has been beautifully restored to its former colonial grandeur and is surrounded by well-maintained gardens and has stunning views of the Kandyan Hills.
The estate gets its name from James Taylor who started the first tea estate in Sri Lanka. The mansion itself has a striking heritage exterior, with stone walls, bay windows and climbing plants. Inside there are five individually designed bedrooms and suites, with big comfy beds, bathtubs, old fireplaces and bright yet tasteful décor. There are also rooms available for families with connecting living rooms where extra beds can be added, as well as queen and twin bed options. The swimming pool has amazing views of the hills and a sun terrace, and the gardens throughout are well-kept and perfect for relaxing with a drink. The tennis court and snooker room provide great entertainment, and there is also a TV room with a collection of DVDs and children’s playroom as well as croquet and badminton equipment. Freshly prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner are on offer every day as well as afternoon tea – a favourite amongst guests!
There are walks and tea plantation tours to be taken in the area, as well as the cultural hub of Kandy being only a short drive away. This is a secluded and quiet hideaway in the hills that is great for families and people looking for a relaxing experience close to Kandy.
Deluxe - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.
