'Heaven on the planet' provides a wonderful combination of a remote, incredibly picturesque and idyllic coastal setting and a wide variety of activities and adventure. Fantastic for both families and active couples, this eco-sensitive resort is a fantastic place to get away from it all, surf the famous Ekas reef, snorkel and dive around the exotic submerged island big blue or simply explore the vast array of hidden white sand beaches by foot, bike or vehicle.
Built on the top of a cliff, with access to the beach below and views of Mount Rinjani in the distance, the chalets and villas have thatched roofs, wooden walls and marble floors and bathrooms. They are relatively simply designed and styled but are very comfortable, have good-sized private bathrooms and all have balconies with fantastic views.
For those looking for a little more in the way of modern comforts, the sister property Ocean Heaven is a short way down the cliff towards the private beach. The accommodation there is similar in style and design but with larger rooms and slightly more modern comforts. The property has a bar/restaurant overlooking the bay and guests of each property can use the other properties facilities, a complimentary shuttle service is included.
The main attraction for many, and the reason for the resort's existence, is the world-renowned and unspoilt, surfing break on Ekas reef. As a result, the property is a favourite of surfers from across the world and is an excellent place for both experienced surfers and absolute beginners; the resort has its resident surf instructor. However, this is so much more than a surfer's paradise. The snorkelling and diving are fantastic, the coastline is breathtaking, with some great bike and foot trails, and nearby is a fascinating and easily accessible shell fossil display.
The Kiwi and Australian owners have created and maintained a laid back, informal and relaxed atmosphere and guests are encouraged to socialise. The food is a good quality mix of local and western, and the full board basis is deliberately designed to be very generous. The pools in both properties are relatively small but have fantastic views. All in all, this is a highly recommended, fun, interesting and unique property.
Eco/Adventure - This category covers gorgeous lodges in the jungle, comfortable safari camps and dreamy, but simple, beach cabanas. These places defy conventional categorisation: what is communing with nature to one person may be terrifying bugs to another! Many of these places are very comfortable and the service generally of a very high level - but please read the website review carefully and/or talk to us and be sure to have understood what you are letting yourselves in for!
