Sri Lanka, Kandy and Around
Info : Kandy Cottage
A short stroll or drive from Kandy Town, on the edge of the Udawatakelle forest, Kandy Cottage is a charming cottage tucked away from the hustle and bustle that’s perfect for both nature lovers and urban explorers.
Cosy and welcoming, Kandy Cottage is an ideal choice for families and small groups. It has three bedrooms – a master bedroom, family room with double bed and attached room with bunk beds, and a second double or twin room – and a living area with a large dining table for meals, separate lounge area, lobby and reading space. The bathrooms have hot running water. There is no AC in the cottage.
Exuding local charm, the cottage is simply yet elegantly furnished with polished cement floors throughout and skylights providing extra day- and moonlight. Dimmer switches provide additional control. High-speed internet is available free of charge in all bedrooms and in the lounge.
The real charm of the cottage is in its location, surrounded as it is by the region’s incredible flora and fauna. You are likely to come across some of the most exciting wildlife in the Udawatakelle forest right on your doorstep – be warned, the fruits and spices growing in the lovely cottage garden attract roving monkeys who have been known to steal underwear that’s hanging out to dry!
This delightful, unpretentious cottage offers comfortable living at a fantastic price, and makes a welcome change from the grander properties in the area.
This was an excellently organised, tailor-made trip. We stayed in friendly hotels in a number of different locations, including a mud house in the jungle, beside a lake and in the hills among the tea plantations. We had a wonderful guide/driver and visited some amazing temples, spectacular world heritage sites, lovely villages and ate delicious, freshly harvested and cooked local food. It was a fabulous holiday!
