West into the hills from Hanoi, spectacular scenery is what you can expect at Mai Chau Ecolodge, and you’ll be thoroughly charmed as soon as you arrive. Thatched-roof bungalows provide views of emerald rice paddy fields, the pool awaits, there is plenty to do, and the staff are more than accommodating.

There is a wide range of room types to suit all needs and budgets. All are adequately air-conditioned and have views of either the lodge gardens or the rice fields and the mountains beyond. The superior rooms are somewhat basic but bright with red tiling, bamboo furnishings and comfortable, firm king-sized beds. Junior-deluxe and deluxe rooms have private gardens and outdoor showers. Guests seeking a private plunge pool will find one in the suites. Families, in particular, will appreciate the option of connecting deluxe rooms or taking the family bungalow. 

Mai Chau's on-site restaurant specialises in local Thai and Vietnamese cuisine, the ingredients for which often come from the eco lodge’s garden. There’s an outdoor swimming pool available for all guests and a massage centre with skilled staff offering a wide range of treatments.

There are some hotel design features that you might find quirky if you’re accustomed to sleeker luxury accommodation. But the ecolodge is friendly, convenient and spacious - all in all, it's great for a night or two and a good base for exploring Mai Chau and its surrounds.
