Penang’s countryside is verdant and expansive and a great way to explore is on a bike tour. We’ll take you through the tiny villages along the way, with plenty of time for sampling culinary specialties and admiring the work of local artisans. The market visit is worth the early rise for the exotic fruits, brightly coloured spices and fresh herbs. Watch out for shrimp paste, local beauty products, coconuts and Durian, a seasonal and somewhat controversial fruit.
The tour continues along country pathways, passing by mangroves, goat herds, wooden villages and farms. Enjoy a fresh and tasty lunch in a local restaurant before visiting the Kek Lo Si Temple, the Pagoda of the 10,000 Buddha’s, and Penang Hill.
