Kuala Lumpur is admired for its culinary vigour, and this food-centric tour is a great way to explore Malaysian cuisine in great and glorious detail. Start the day early with a trip to the food market. Talk to the vendors, examine the exotic fruits and vegetables and admire the array of brightly coloured spices. Your guide will explain it all and help you hand-pick ingredients for the upcoming feast.
You’ll then visit a Malaysian family home for a personal cooking lesson: immerse yourself in the exotic aromas that fill the room and anticipate the fruits of your labour. Be sure to ask plenty of questions about culinary culture in Kuala Lumpur as you go. Then sit back and enjoy a feast fit for a Sultan with your cooking companions.
Our guide, Mr Rous Ry was so well informed and so passionate about Cambodia that he transformed the holiday. I now can't even imagine trying to understand Angkor Wat without his explanations of the history of Hinduism, Buddhism and the Khmer empire. He also took on board that I am interested in old industrial processes and this helped with visits to an old fish paste factory, a blacksmith, a pottery, a brickworks and various railway sites. This was all done with a charming sense of humour and enthusiasm.
