Info : 23 Love Lane
This is a period property and an old family residence offering comfortable rooms in the heart of Georgetown, Penang. It’s perfect for those looking for an eclectic property, imbued with local history.
23 Love Lane is very homely and quiet. Built across the 1800s, the structure of the property is a mixture of five different architectural periods. Renowned conservationists have lovingly brought the building back to life as a boutique hotel. Large traditional Chinese lanterns welcome you over the arched Oriental court gates and make for a particularly impressive entrance. 23 Love Lane Penang is also ideally placed with all the core UNESCO heritage sites of George Town within walking distance.
23 Love Lane has only 10 rooms and as such, a very personal atmosphere. Decorated with a mixture of modern and antique furniture, 23 Love Lane Penang really lets you get a sense of the cities past.
Some of the rooms are in separate buildings; the 3 bedroom Muntri Suite is a few minutes’ walk down the road and used to be an old shop. The Steward Suite is also just around the corner from the main building. Both of these options offer greater privacy although the hotel service is just that bit further away.
While the property oozes heritage, it perhaps less suits those wanting consistency and familiarity from a hotel. 23 Love Lane Penang works well for those who embrace idiosyncrasy and character.
Comfort - This is our lead in category. There will generally be a no frills approach and while some will be characterful, some will do exactly what it says on the tin - provide a clean, comfortable and good value place to spend the night. These places are normally 3* hotels.
We enjoyed a 3 week trip exploring both the well known places as well as the less developed areas. We also balanced the trip with a variety of walks and activities as well as time for several half day breaks to relax. The Myanmar people are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The colours of the country are outstanding, wonderful dusty landscapes with rice fields and palm trees as well as so many amazing pagodas rich in colour and symbolism. Our best parts were the less well known places but Lake Inle and Bagan are must do places and are still not overrun by tourists. Experience Travel Group tailored a trip for our needs and knew how to do so and suggest appropriate hotels and means of travel.
