Thale Noi lake, located in the Southern province of Phattalung, is a waterfowl reserve in which you can find over 180 species of resident and migratory birds. Beginning the day bright and early, a short journey to a nearby viewpoint will give you a beautiful view and a local coffee to drink as you watch the sunrise over the lake. From your vantage point, try to count how many species of birds you can see amongst the lotus flowers and bulrushes, all set against the picturesque stilted fishing platforms known as ‘yor yak’ dotted around the water.
