Thailand, North and East
Info : 137 Pillars
137 Pillars is a beautiful boutique hotel in a riverside neighbourhood of Chiang Mai opened in 2012. The property is set around a historic, colonial teak homestead with tropical gardens and the result is something quite special.
Thirty suites of four different categories combine oriental elegance with the modern comforts expected of a luxury hotel. In all rooms you’ll find books on Thai history and on local flora and fauna as well as mod cons like Wi-Fi, DVD player and espresso machine. The suites all have a stylish yet homely feel.
Our favourites rooms are the William Bain Terrace suites, with their super king size beds, generous living room and airy, vintage tiled veranda. Relax in your own separate indoor and outdoor garden area.
Along with the large airy suites are a number of spaces to explore or relax around the grounds. The library bar is the ideal place to learn more about the history of this country and area, or have an after dinner drink. The Parlour lounge is perfect for afternoon tea. A contemporary, yet comfortable relaxed restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.
137 Pillars is based in the heart of a cosmopolitan area of Chiang Mai with various eateries, European architecture and Thai artisans.
Luxury - Luxury hotels would have a superb level of service, very comfortable and usually spacious bedrooms, excellent food, great design and character. For us, when we visited, these places all had the 'wow factor'. A luxury hotel should satisfy the criteria of the most discerning clients.
