9 Hornbills Tented Camp, Ko Yao Island

9 Hornbills is located on Koh Yao Noi, a sleepy island midway between Phuket and Krabi. It’s perched on a hillside above its sister property - ETG favourite Koyao Island Resort. The camp comprises 10 safari tents, each with its own private garden and pool, offering an elevated perspective of the bay. Deceptively basic from the outside, the tent interiors are beautifully designed, combining spaciousness with a subtle colonial charm and stylish wooden furniture. All mod cons are provided including air conditioning and a proper coffee machine.  

Although there is no on-site restaurant, 9 Hornbills guests can use the facilities of Koyao Island Resort which is on the beach at the bottom of the hill. Buggies are available to get up and down but if you prefer to stay in your private paradise, meals can be served directly to your tent. 

The island itself has a notable absence of chain restaurants and noisy clubs. Instead, you'll find quaint local eateries, fishing boats, and a friendly local community. 

The 9 Hornbills Tented Camp is squarely aimed at couples – as much as anything else, all the tents are doubles and there’s no option of adding a bed.
